FAQ's

Do I need to be in good physical condition for treks like Salkantay or Ausangate?

Yes. These treks involve long hikes at high altitude, so we recommend good physical shape, light training beforehand and at least two days in Cusco to acclimatize.

What is included in the trekking tours to Machu Picchu, Salkantay or Ausangate?

Our tours include a professional guide, meals on the trail, transportation, camping equipment when applicable and the Machu Picchu entrance on routes that visit it. Some tours also include porters or pack horses; check each itinerary.

What should I bring for a multi-day trekking or adventure tour?

Warm layers, waterproof jacket, broken-in hiking boots, a daypack, sunscreen, hat, headlamp and your passport. We send a detailed packing list after booking.

Is it necessary to book in advance?

Yes, especially for the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. Permits and entrance tickets are limited per day and sell out quickly in high season (May to September).

What happens if I get altitude sickness during the trek?

Our guides are trained in first aid and carry oxygen and a first-aid kit. Spending at least two days in Cusco before the trek greatly reduces the risk.

Can I join a tour if I am vegetarian or have food restrictions?

Yes. Tell us when booking and our cooks will adapt your meals (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and more) throughout the trip.
