Travel in Peru: Machulas Journey operates in regions where standards of accommodation can vary. Transportation and services might not be like those you would normally have back home. However, we strive with all due care and skill, to provide the best service for our clients. Travelling in Peru requires flexibility, patience, broad-mindedness, good humor and an understanding that changes may be made without notice due to circumstances or occurrences beyond our control for example a strike, protest, landslide, bad weather, etc.
By booking any of our tours & journeys you agree to allow Machulas Journey to make necessary changes without liability.
This is very important to know for all clients becoming with Machulas journey. Depending on the type of reservation we have different requirement, therefore please refer to the specific document your sales consultant send to you it is imperative that you read and understand our terms and condition this wholly the client responsibility.
By registering for a journeys, the participant acknowledges that he/she is aware that travel such as the tours or journeys he/she is undertaking involves potentially dangerous activities, some in remote areas of the world, with a risk of illness, injury or death which may be caused by forces of nature, illness, or by willful or criminal conduct of third parties or by terrorism. The participant further acknowledges that weather conditions may be severe, adverse and/or unpleasant and that medical services or facilities may not be readily available or accessible or consistent with standards in the United States during some or all of the time during which he/she is participating on the journeys and that when available may not be of the quality which exists in the United States
booking any of our adventure journeys (trekkings as Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Lares, Salkantay, Choquequirao, ancascocha trek and others like day tours) you assume the risks associated with personal accidents, medical emergencies, air travel problems etc. For these treks, Machulas journey Company accepts no responsibility.
before setting off make sure you have travel insurance, or are covered by your domestic policies. When choosing travel insurance make sure the policy covers you for trekking the trail described in this note. Most policies will but some might not, so read the small print carefully. For compete peace of mind, take out insurance tailored for trekker or mountaineers.
An extra charge of $30 USD per person is applicable for all treks (regardless of group / private option / size of group) starting on any of the following dates:
Christmas (Dec 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th)
New Year (Dec 29th, 30th, 31st, Jan 1st).
An extra charge is also applicable if a trek leaves during Election days. (Peruvians are fined if they do not vote)
We use the extra charge to pay staff a bonus for working during holidays or to pay fines for not voting.
All client has to present original and current, color scanned passport or identity card. Your passport number and other information must be valid. Please advise if you change your passport number after booking the tour (especially for booking the classic Inca Trail as if we do not make a change in your official details, you may not be permitted to do the trek). Please Note changing passports’ numbers requires an extra fee (we are able to change passports numbers easily on our receipt but it’s also extremely important that we make the changes with the Inca Trail authorities).
Student card or ISIC card is very important in order to obtain this discount you must have a valid ISIC card. It is important scan send by e-mail this to us at the time of booking and that it is valid on the date you are booked on the Inca Trail or alternative trek (you will need to show the real ISIC card once you arrive to Cusco and in Machu Picchu main control).
Cancellations to your trip as soon as you are aware of them, via e-mail (info@machulasjourney.com), (machulasjourney@gmail.com), or fax so that we do not incur expenses not covered by deposit.
Once final balance has been paid, we will not be able to refund your trek payment in the case of cancellations. There will, however, be parts of your trip that you are able to use (Machu Picchu entrance fee, train tickets, bus tickets).
A claim letter for your insurance company can also be provided by us upon request.
Porter service hired can Not be cancelled (a fee is paid for booking this service).
Our policy for our deposits for our treks and tours are that they are 100% non-refundable. There are no exceptions due to the fact that Machulas journey expends a great deal of expense purchasing permits, entrance tickets, and making deposits for reservations or services, most of which are non-changeable, non-transferable, and non-refundable by government regulation.
The person who signs the reservation order is the only person that can make changes to the Tour, trek or any trip. A $40 USD order fee is charged to make any changes. Though all efforts will be made to make the changes requested, they are not guaranteed and there may be additional costs in relation to these changes.
This is very important for every client of Machuals Journey especially in classic Inca trails: 2 days, 4 days, 5 or 7 days (Group or Private Service). We request a 50% of deposit this can be $300 USD non-refundable deposit per person along with your personal details (full name, passport number, gender, nationality, DOB.
If the client is going any hiking + extra mountain (Huaynapicchu Mountain) the deposit amount has to be $3060 USD per person.
If the client is going any hiking + extra mountain (Machupicchu Mountain) the deposit amount has to be $3050 USD per person.
Please confirm if you want to climb either HuaynaPicchu or Machupicchu (these are extra mountains once you will finish the tour in to citadel next to that there are two mountains called Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu these are extra ones, and you have pay extra also) as it needs to be booked well in advance too; this is $60:00USD for Huayna Picchu and $50:00 USD for Machu Picchu, per person.
If you want you can climb any of then, there is different time for bod of then (for huaynapicchu is (from, 7 – 8am or 10-11am) and for Machu Picchu (9:00am to 10:00am) this also needs to be specified although you need to be flexible to either time. Please note, if you get the permits for the 7am start you will probably have to miss the Machu Picchu guided tour.
The final invoice you can pay your balance in cash and in US dollars.
Hotel in Cusco, and related fees (except as indicated in the itinerary); activities noted as optional in the itinerary; gratuities for workers who will are with you, unless otherwise noted on the itinerary page; passport, visa, and permit expenses; medical expenses and immunizations; baggage/accident/cancellation insurance; personal expenses, such as laundry, telephone calls, and alcoholic beverages; and any other items not specifically noted as included.
We recommend you arrive in Cusco 48 hours or more before trek departure as we may need to leave earlier than scheduled in case of strikes or any events out of our control.
If the Inca trail is closed for any reason, we can change with the alternative trek.
